This Month’s Quick Home Tip

Label Your Electrical Panel

Do you know which breaker goes to what in your home?

Why it matters:

  • Saves time during outages or emergencies

  • Prevents accidentally shutting off the wrong circuit

  • Makes future repairs safer and faster

Quick way to do it:

  1. Turn on lights or outlets in one room at a time

  2. Flip breakers one-by-one to see what shuts off

  3. Write clear labels like “Kitchen outlets” or “Upstairs bedroom lights”

  4. Avoid vague labels like “Living room??”

Pro tip: If your panel is hard to read or confusing, it’s usually worth organizing and labeling it once — it’s one of those small tasks that pays off for years.

March Home Checklist

March To-Do: Winter → Spring Transition

  • Clear snow away from foundation before heavy melt

  • Make sure downspouts are pushing water 3–4 ft from house

  • Check basement for moisture or musty smells

  • Test sump pump before spring rain

  • Replace furnace filter after heavy winter use

  • Inspect roof from the ground for missing shingles or popped siding

  • If anything looks questionable, now’s the time to address it before the April rain.

Examples of handyman storage solutions.

Hooks, Shelves, and Storage oh my!

As winter comes to a close and spring arrives, many of us will start to clean up around the house and declutter after a long cold winter.

Only problem is…where are you going to put everything?

Adding a few more hooks in your mudroom, putting together new shelving (Ikea anyone!?), or creating a new space in your home to store your seasonal supplies will help provide answers to the question we all ask, “Where does this go?”

Life on the Topsail

A Doodle from Dave

a cartoon about lightbulbs

The old way works, until it doesn’t.

“Back in my day!”

We’ve all heard that phrase before. As if years ago things were either harder, easier, simpler, or more complex.

Yet if we’re honest, most of the time, that phrase is used to avoid and/or confront change.

Change is inevitable. Sometimes it’s welcome, other times it’s uncomfortable, but it’s always going to be there.

AND, there is always growth on the other side.

So, if you are going through or needing some change this season - personally, professionally, or around your home - and the old ways aren’t helping, try something new instead.

Ok, now get off my lawn and call for any help you need! 😂 🏴‍☠️

Cheers,

Dave
