This Month’s Quick Home Tip

Swap Your Ceiling Fan Direction for Summer

Most people don't realize their ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise in the summer to push cool air down. It's a simple switch on the fan itself and can make a noticeable difference in comfort — potentially letting you hold off on cranking the A/C for a few more weeks.

May Home Checklist

Spring is here! Now what?

  • Pressure wash siding, walkways, and the driveway — grime and algae build up fast after a wet spring

  • Inspect and re-caulk around all exterior windows and doors — sealing now keeps moisture and bugs out all summer

  • Check wood trim, fascia, and soffits for soft spots or rot — May is the best time to catch and repair small areas before they spread

  • Tighten and inspect all exterior door hinges and hardware — doors swell and shift over winter and often need a simple adjustment by spring

  • Rehang or replace house numbers, mailbox, or exterior light fixtures that took a beating over winter

  • Check screen door and window screens for tears — repair or replace before bug season hits

Life on the Topsail

A Doodle from Dave

A cartoon about not taking life seriously and having a little fun.

Don’t forget to laugh along the way!

My daughter had a class project last year where she had to share one of her heroes.

She chose me <insert dad dance>, but what I loved most was one of her reasons…

“he always knows how to make someone laugh.”

Ever since I was a kid, humor was always part of “Dave.”

I always believed a little laugh can change a whole moment for someone.

So when she noticed that, it was one of those moments that felt awesome.

As many parents can appreciate, I definitely don’t get it right all the time, but sharing the power of laughter is one I’m proud of for sure

And if anyone knows my daughter, she’s more like me than I tend to admit!

So, go on

Laugh a little more today, it’s totally worth it!

Cheers,

Dave
