Your Caulk Has an Expiration Date!

Most homeowners caulk something once and never think about it again. But caulk around tubs, showers, and kitchen sinks typically needs replacing every 3-5 years. July is a good time to do a quick walk-through of every wet area in the home and look for cracking, discoloration, or gaps.

A $5 tube of caulk prevents tile damage, mold, and subfloor rot.

July Home Checklist

Home Owners:

• Check the attic for proper ventilation — poor airflow in July heat can warp roof decking and shorten shingle life

  
  

• Inspect exterior wood trim, fascia, and siding for sun damage or warping, especially on south and west facing walls

  
  

• Clean dryer vent exteriors — lint buildup combined with summer humidity is a fire and efficiency risk

  
  

• Confirm your fire extinguishers are charged and within inspection dates

  
  

• Test smoke and CO detectors throughout the home (remember, you should have a smoke detector in every room of the home and one CO detector on each level.

Gone are the days….

If you think about it, it was pretty impressive how many 7-digit combinations we were able to remember and distinguish in the blink of an eye.

Our phones are now filled with contacts, enough to fill a few yellow pages I bet (or technically the white ones 😂).
